Sr. Director of IoT

Our client in the western suburbs of Chicago is seeking a  Sr. Director of IoT to lead their growing engineering team!  This is a multifaceted Engineering leadership role which requires technical depth and breadth to support embedded firmware and software, cloud development, app  development and overall product development for connected life safety products.

Responsibilities
  • Ability to lead, guide and direct the various engineers in embedded firmware, software, cloud and app development actions of a significant engineering team.
  • Leading internal and external communication, improving transparency, and sharing information 
  • Supporting and educating the Product Owner, especially with respect to grooming and maintaining the product backlog, story definition, acceptance criteria, dependence management including with external vendors
  • Guiding the development team and organization on how to use Agile/Scrum practices
  • Guiding the team on self-organizing to fill in the intentional gaps left in the Agile/Scrum frameworks 

 

Qualifications
  • Required education level – BS or BA in Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering
  • Strong Knowledge of app dev, firmware, software development embedded, realtime, highly reliable software design
  • Automated Nightly Builds, Units test
  • Experience with BLE, WiFi, Firmware, RTOS, Sensors, Apple HomeKit, iOS, Android, Amazon services  
  • Experience managing a large independent team. 
  • Knowledge and/or experience with widely successful Agile techniques: User Stories, Continuous Integration, Continuous Testing, Pairing, Automated Testing, Agile Games, Test Driven Development (TDD)
