The Plant Controller serves two separate functions within manufacturing operations. The Plant Controller is foremost a member of the operations team responsible to help achieve all financial and operational goals. Additionally, the Plant Controller is the most senior financial leader within our client’ s plant operations, and within the scope of the position is the specific person representing the local interests of the client’ s Chief Financial Officer and Corporate Controller.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for understanding and incorporating into practice all aspects of the required site financial controls including ensuring overall compliance with all Corporate Policies, guidance and the inclusion of local control needs present either because of segregation of duty challenges or other control requirements specific to the local environment. This responsibility includes the periodic review and internal control self-assessment and associated corrective actions and the establishment and monitoring of a system of internal controls that safeguards company asset and provides for integrity and propriety of financial transactions and activities.
- Responsible for process improvement with the finance function at the plant to ensure accuracy and transparency of the numbers, week over week and month over month.
- Required to give clear and distinct guidance to the operational team on what they need to accomplish to achieve the expected financial results for the month.
- Includes the development and maintenance of the systems and accounts for the collection, monitoring and control of plant related costs.
- Includes the verification of control processes for all disbursement accounts as applicable, including but not limited to payroll and vendor payments.
- Responsible to prepare and/or review various financial schedules used for Actual Results reporting, Budgets and Forecasts, Balance Sheet management and Cash Flow management and related activities.
- Responsible for the accuracy and integrity of the data and systems reporting used by the Plant specifically and the company as a whole. All of the above require the appropriate use of judgment and estimates in the preparation of these financial statements and/or schedules. Execution of this responsibility will require the review, analysis and evaluation of financial data and information for accuracy, consistency, and transparency. Maintaining the integrity of financial reports prepared by the plant is critical. Additionally;
- Prepares or reviews account reconciliations to maintain the integrity of plant general ledger and its supporting sub-systems.
- Assesses adequacy of reserves and overall financial reporting. Ensure adequate training and oversight is provided to all finance personnel
- Develops and implements budgeting and financial reporting systems to provide timely and relevant information for the plant and corporate management. Control and maintain adequate product costing systems for valuation and cost estimating activities.
- Responsible to fully participate in the leadership of the Plant including; interaction with local management team on financial and strategic issues. Participation in the development of financial and operational objectives and implementation of appropriate actions to drive the business toward the attainment of those objectives, Participation in the development of financial and operational objectives and implementation of appropriate actions to drive the business toward the attainment of those objectives, Preparation of all local statutory and tax filings in coordination with the VP of Tax and Treasury and the Corporate Controller as appropriate
- This individual needs to be a self-starter that requires minimal guidance with picking up systems and processes in a very challenging and dynamic environment. This position is the sole finance individual at the plant location, supported by a central AP/AR Shared Service function as well as the Plant Controllers at the other facilities.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’ s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related degree with equivalent technical rigor
- 5+ years of experience in Plant Finance or closely related function
- CPA not required
- Automotive /Aerospace experience preferred but not required.
- Results oriented professional with demonstrated experience delivering operating results in a team environment
- Clear communication skills.
- Self-motivated, collaborative, team player able to multi-task in a high expectations environment
- Adaptive, appropriately assertive and persistent; highly organized and autonomous
